All around the world, there are thousands of people alive today, unified by a common bond. The bond of having received or given an organ or tissue. Some owe their lives to living donors, who are family members or friends….others to the generosity of perfect strangers, organ and tissue donors driven by the desire to give life to others after their death. The World Transplant Games give both organ recipients the motivation to strive towards full rehabilitation through exercise, camaraderie and healthy living.
Team India at the World Transplant Games is proudly managed by ORGAN India since 2022.
The historic city of Dresden, Germany was home to the 2025 World Transplant Games which was held from the 17th-24th August, 2025 in Dresden. It was a Games like no other, bringing the transplant community together from around the world. The seven-day program of high exertion and low impact sports, along with many social and cultural events, catered to both elite and social athletes and attract more than 2000 participants from over 50 nations.
Ajish, a 43 year old IT professional, residing in Navi Mumbai was diagnosed with IgA Kidney failure in the year 2018.
38 year old Anil, who hails from Chandigarh, is an extrovert and relishes meeting new people, playing games, and also enjoys theatre.
Thirteen-year-old Ishaan Anekar was initially diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, but genetic testing later confirmed it as Alport syndrome, a rare genetic kidney disease.
The costs of managing the Team, training athletes, and organizing everything for the Games are immense. Additionally, the cost per athlete is extremely high, and transplant patients have already spent a lot of their funds on the surgery and subsequent treatment. While they are good athletes and wish to represent India, it is beyond the means of many of them. It is here that we need your support. Every little bit counts. Donations to the trust, except grants for CSR, qualify for exemption U/S 80G of the Income Tax Act.
