The Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network (ORGAN) India was launched in March 2013 as an initiative of the Parashar Foundation, an NGO based in Delhi. The Parashar Foundation was set up in 2005 by the late Shri Ashok Parashar to help the poor and less fortunate by providing funds to various schools, health centers, and other organizations. While our previous work was primarily in the form of donations to various causes, we now have a clear goal – to create widespread awareness of organ donation in India.
Since 2013, the Foundation has focused on creating awareness on Organ Donation under ORGAN (Organ Receiving & Giving Awareness Network) India.
To increase the number of donor pledges in India through large-scale information dissemination via various media and platforms.
To educate those suffering from organ failure about their various options, and to help them in their ordeal by offering information and assistance.
To influence public policy on organ donation through advocacy in India by becoming leaders in public awareness and the collaborative effort of all NGOs in this field.
ORGAN India was formed with the mission of spreading awareness on Organ Donation and Transplantation among all. Spreading the word through all media – social media, campaigns, films, animations, radio, television, blogs etc. We organize awareness drives and conduct awareness sessions in schools, colleges & universities, hospitals, corporate offices, and various organizations & associations all across India.
ORGAN India is actively involved in advocacy and lobbying with the Government authorities and other organizations and holding regular consultations with the National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO), the apex government body in India dealing with matters of organ and tissue transplantation.
We work regularly with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Hospitals, Medical colleges & universities, other NGOs, and the media to further our cause.
In October 2021, ORGAN India applied for and was appointed the Official Member Organization from India at the World Transplant Games Federation (WTGF), with ORGAN India CEO Sunayana Singh as the Country Representative. For the past 5 years, our team has worked relentlessly to reach out to athletes across the country to form the Indian Contingent for the World Transplant Games 2023 & 2025, and organize, train as well as fundraise for the athletes. As we continue our journey at the World Transplant Games 2027, our inspiration is and always will be the incredible spirit of these athletes.
